Vampire Crawlers Endless Mode: How to Unlock It and How Deep It Goes¶
Endless Mode is the post-game mode from v1.5: it keeps a cleared dungeon going past its last floor, raises enemy difficulty as you dig, and turns the Jeweller off for the run. You unlock it by finishing the game, clearing the one-floor teaser area labelled ???, and taking the Seventh Trumpet relic. After that the toggle lives on the World Map and in the Museum, and it only appears for dungeons you have already beaten.
The mode is small on paper: one relic, one toggle, one paragraph in the patch notes. What it changes is the shape of a run. A normal dungeon is a fixed 4 to 7 floors (stage list), so a bad draw costs you one floor. Endless removes the end of that list, and the deck you built has to keep working against enemies that were never balanced for floor 20.
What 1.5 added, and when each platform got it¶
The QOL update landed first on PC and reached consoles three weeks later. The mode itself is identical on both.
| Release | Date | What Endless players got |
|---|---|---|
| v1.5, PC | 23 June 2026 | Endless Mode, the ??? teaser area, the Seventh Trumpet, card sorting, instant sealing |
| v1.5, consoles | 14 July 2026 | The same mode on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2, plus 4K docked output on Switch 2 |
| v1.6.1, Death Parade | 12 October 2026 | Gallo Dungeons (3 floors, tier 9), the dungeon where Leda waits on floor 14; no Endless changes were listed |
The console date is RPG Site's report on the 14 July rollout; the 1.5 post only promised consoles "soon".
How to unlock Endless Mode¶
- Finish the game. The 1.5 notes are explicit: "If you have completed the game, a small new teaser area is unlocked on the map." The area is not on the map before that.
- Clear
???. It is a real stage with a real entry in the dungeon table: 1 floor, difficulty 0, added 23 June 2026. Completing it is also the Town Hall condition for Moongolow ("Complete ???"), so this stop is on the critical path whether or not you care about Endless. - Take the Seventh Trumpet. Its in-game text is "Adds an Endless button to the World Map." The wiki records it as found in
???, which is the only location attached to it. - Switch it on. The World Map and the Museum both carry the toggle, and both need the relic first. The Museum is the faster route from inside the Village: it lists every relic you own in one grid.
Pick a dungeon you have cleared: Endless is not offered for a stage you have never finished, so it cannot skip a difficulty gate on a first playthrough.
What actually changes inside a run¶
| Rule | Normal run | Endless run |
|---|---|---|
| Floors | Fixed per stage: 4 to 7 | Continues past the last floor |
| Enemy difficulty | Fixed by the stage's tier | Rises as you dig |
| Jeweller | Rarity changes and seals apply | Disabled for the run |
| Gem rarity | Your Jeweller settings decide the pools | Default rarity, tweaks and seals ignored |
| Available stages | Any unlocked stage | Cleared stages only |
| Toggle | Not applicable | World Map or Museum |
| Depth cap | The stage's floor count | None published |
Endless adds no new enemy family, card pool or boss: it extends the floor generator and lets the numbers climb.
The Jeweller rule is the point of the mode¶
poncle's own explanation is worth quoting because it kills the obvious exploit:
"The Jeweller is disabled in Endless Mode to make it a challenge about going as deep as possible in a stage having to rely on the base-game RNG rather than a preset gem configuration."
The wiki's gem page adds the detail the patch note leaves out: with Endless on, all gems drop at their default rarity, whether you pushed a gem's frequency down or sealed it in the Jeweller (all 62 gems). Sealing is a Jeweller action, so a sealed Ultra Rare can reappear in an Endless chest.
The practical consequence is that the two levers you normally pull before a hard run are gone. You cannot thin the gem pool toward the four or five gems your deck wants, and you cannot remove the ones that ruin a draw. What is left is deck construction and play order, which is exactly the skill the mode is testing.
Leda, floor 14, and the only documented Endless encounter¶
Gallo Dungeons is the smallest endgame dungeon: 3 floors at tier 9, added with Death Parade. In Endless the floor counter does not stop at 3, and the wiki gives Leda's unlock condition in one line: "Defeating Leda on floor 14 of Gallo Dungeons using endless mode."
That makes floor 14 the one depth the game documents by name. Leda is not a random boss encounter: she is the reward for pushing a 3-floor dungeon eleven floors past its end.
| Leda at a glance | Value |
|---|---|
| Unlock cost | 666 gold |
| Max Health | +100 |
| Recovery | +10 |
| Deal Count | −1 |
| Gem slots | 0 |
| Card text | Deal X damage to the front row. Discard X. Meatball. Crawler. |
| Boss HP on floor 14 | 225,000 |
The Deal Count −1 is the cost of running her: one fewer card in every opening hand, on a Crawler whose card wants you to throw cards away (Deal Count explained). No other floor-locked Endless encounter is documented anywhere in the patch notes or on the wiki, so treat floor 14 as the only named depth marker rather than the first of a list.
What you keep, and what stays in the dungeon¶
Endless changes the difficulty curve, not the loot rules. The save schema is the clearest evidence of what survives a run, because it separates profile data from run data.
| Thing | After the run | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coins | Kept | Stored as profile data; coins come from light sources, chests and dungeon completion |
| Gems and gem slots | Kept | Gem slots and gem frequencies are progression data, not run data |
| Unlocks, Crawlers, Power Ups | Kept | All sit in the progression block |
| The deck you built | Gone | Rebuilt per dungeon; a run's cards are not profile data |
| Your Jeweller preset | Ignored inside Endless | Official: the Jeweller is disabled |
| Depth record or score | Not documented | No milestone, leaderboard or depth bonus appears in the 1.5 notes |
A deep run therefore pays out in what you picked up on the way, not in a completion bonus. For farming, it is a worse deal than a normal clear: same coins, more enemies, no Jeweller.
Depth strategy that survives the mode¶
Pick the shortest dungeon for the depth you want. Gallo Dungeons is 3 floors, so floor 14 is eleven extra floors; on a 7-floor dungeon it is seven, with a longer walk to the same reward.
Build for consistency, not for a ceiling. Without the Jeweller, your damage per turn is whatever the deck's curve allows. A deck that needs one specific gem to function is a deck that stalls on the floor where the gem does not drop.
Take Chain Link if you have it. The combo clears at the end of every turn unless something holds it, and deeper floors take more than one turn per encounter (how combos break). Chain Link is the difference between a two-turn fight and a two-turn fight that starts at combo 1 again.
Watch the health wall, not the floor number. Gallo Dungeons' "Below" elites run from 36,000 to 80,000 HP, and Leda's boss form is 225,000 (boss HP table). If a turn cannot produce five figures, depth is not the problem.
Leave before the cracks. Cards crack and then shatter when a turn runs long, and a shattered card is gone for the run. In a mode with no fixed end, the temptation to play one more card is the main way a good run dies.
Q: Is Endless Mode free?¶
Yes. It shipped inside the free 1.5 update, and no part of it is sold separately. The game has no paid content DLC; the only paid extra on Steam is the soundtrack (update history).
Q: Can I play Endless on a dungeon I have not finished?¶
No. The toggle only offers dungeons you have already cleared, and the 1.5 notes say the mode is "available in any dungeon that you have previously cleared". A first-time stage stays a normal run.
Q: Is there a depth cap, or a record to beat?¶
No cap is published. The wiki describes the mode as "an unlimited number of floors", and neither the patch notes nor the wiki mentions a depth leaderboard, a milestone reward or a saved personal best. Floor 14 is the only depth the game names, because Leda is attached to it.
Q: Do achievements unlock in Endless?¶
Leda is an unlock, not an achievement, and Death Parade added no new Steam achievements (full list). No Endless-specific achievement is documented, so the mode is for the run itself rather than for completion percentage.
Q: Why can't I use my Jeweller setup?¶
Because the mode is balanced around not having it. poncle disabled the Jeweller so depth depends on "the base-game RNG rather than a preset gem configuration", and the wiki confirms that gem rarity reverts to default even for gems you sealed.
